My Leadership Journey
I am dedicated educator with more than twenty-five years of experience serving in a variety of impactful leadership roles. Currently, I serve as the Chief Academic Officer for the Gary Community School Corporation, where I lead districtwide efforts to strengthen instructional practices and improve student outcomes. Prior to this role, I served as the Executive Director of the Office of Social and Emotional Learning for Chicago Public Schools and previously as the principal of Ira F. Aldridge Elementary School. During my tenure as principal, I was recognized as both a CAHN Fellow for Distinguished Principals and a Chicago Public Schools Distinguished Principal.
Throughout my career, I have held multiple leadership positions that focused on advancing student achievement, developing educators, and strengthening school communities. Besides my district leadership, I have served as an adjunct instructor, contributing to the preparation and development of future educators.
I am also the founder and lead consultant of Heart Educational Consulting LLC, where I partner with schools and leaders to build strong instructional cultures and sustainable systems for improvement. I have earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from National Louis University and is the author of 30 Days of Encouragement for the Educator and A Daily Journal. My mission is to create academically engaging school communities that foster curiosity, kindness, and social-emotional growth for all students.
